Hi there, Hometalk Friends! Today I’m sharing a simple technique that’s the perfect way to dress up thrift store stemware and chargers that you can use to create festive tablescapes from fall through the holidays!
Here's the before photo of my stemware. Need glasses? Look here!
To protect the glass, wrap a plastic bag around the top of the glasses and secure with painter's tape, wrapping the stems so that only the bottom portion is uncovered. You'll notice these bottoms were previously painted with chalkboard paint which is also fun because they can be labeled with the names of your guests. These are not intended for the dishwasher but you can see that by hand washing them, the paint has held up well since I painted them four years ago.
Ready to learn my "technique" and create your own? First, buy a can of Rust-oleum Hammered Copper spray paint. Be sure to grab the hammered variety, the top will have a textured appearance as opposed to the other metallics with shiny smooth lids. Need paint? Find it here!
You can use the same technique to paint charger plates, except no painter's tape is needed. Just spray one side, and allow to dry before spraying the other side. Here's my stemware after just one coat of hammered copper…
...and a closer look. I love the elegant hammered finish. Bam--technique in a can! Think about the lovelies you can create for the cost of a can of spray paint!  Everything tastes just a little better when served from a pretty dish or glass--don't you think?
