We are not doing much for Thanksgiving decorations this year. Lots of end/of-the-year projects are planned. But I have a few little ideas for decor around the house. Maybe you will get an idea for little touches that mean so much.

Pumpkin and BCAM Flowers
I asked for help in deciding what to do with this pumpkin I got after Halloween. Hometalk.com friends came through with lots of suggestions. Until I decide, this still life is reigning on the island. I received these beautiful calla lilies for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Harvest Celebration
My daughter-in-law’s mother gave me these bright veggie canisters and some other coordinating pieces. (I hid the candy corn in the Tomatoes jar.) The little ladies come out every year for harvest time, and this year they are watching after the turkeys, too. The straw lady on the left is from Russia. The angel is on leave from Heaven. These turkeys are sacrificed every year in the name of Thanksgiving.

Little People Rule
These are assorted decorations we have used in lots of ways. So far the little Pilgrims and Indians have been featured in skits the granddaughters and other little girls have performed for themselves. The two salt and pepper shakers are autumn leaves and little pumpkins. We have ten metal napkin rings that look like two acorns. I have used these with several different colors of cloth napkins—fancy stuff for us casual folks. The live flowers were also given to me for BCAM, plus a live arrangement from a baby shower. As one type of plant or flower dies, I replace it with something else growing outside. Pyracantha berries are ready for trimming! The plastic tablecloth and eight big plastic placemats were on sale at Walmart a few years ago for nearly nothing.

Keurig Happiness
To use during decorating, I claimed the Keurig for hot chocolate and sometimes coffee. I have a couple of autumn coffe mugs, and the K-cups are in the glass pumpkin. This spot is already popular with our Sunday lunch group—and me.

And I’ll close with my Hippy Me—who has now earned the title of Miss Thanksgiving!
