Don't save the sparkle for the fireworks show! Add some glitter and bling to your patriotic decor.
Here are some easy projects.
Fastest project ever! Just grab a 12 x 12 wooden box, patriotic paper (this is from Simple Stories), some bling, and bakery twine. Use double sided tape to adhere the paper and the add the bling and twine.
Recycle old jeans to make this Patriotic Banner. Add "jewels" on the images to make it extra special. Instructions here: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/holiday-crafts/4th-of-july-banner-4thofjuly-3972024
Use masking tape to section off the top of a Mason Jar. Paint the bottom section with acrylic paint (3 coats). Then brush with Mod Podge and add glitter. Fill with beans and a candle.
A few coats of paint, Mod Podge and glitter transform plain wooden stars into festive patriotic decor. Paint the stars. Add a layer of Mod Podge and sprinkle with glitter. Spray with a coat of Krylon Crystal Clear to set.
If you happen to have some "leftover" glitter... mix it together to brighten up a plain Mason Jar. Just paint Mod Podge on the jar and sprinkle red, white and blue glitter. Spray with a coat of Krylon Crystal Clear to set.
You'll need about 125 colored straws (I used red and blue for the 4th), cardboard, hot glue, ribbon and adhesive bling. Make a 6" ring out of cardboard. Cut 50 straws to 6 1/2 inches, 50 straws to 5 1/2 inches and cut 25 straws in half. Start by hot glueing long straws around ring (blue). Then hot glue the medium size straws (red) between the blue straws. Finish up by gluing the small straws (red) between the medium straws. Add a red ribbon. Adhere bling on the ribbon to add some sparkly.
