There is something about these black stem pumpkins that is very elegant looking. With just a few simple steps, you can take your pumpkins from ordinary to wow! The best part, is that they can stay up long after Halloween and transition into Thanksgiving décor!

Start with clean, dry pumpkins. I used real pumpkins, but you can always do this to fake pumpkins so then be used again and again. Just make sure you use pumpkins with big stems.

Spray paint your pumpkins. I used Rust-Oleum lilac, fuchsia and silver. It took me two coats to get the pumpkin covered completely. You can paint the pumpkins with craft paint, but it would take longer. I like using spray paint because its such a fast and easy way to change the look of something.

When the pumpkin is dry, use black craft paint to paint the stem.

When they are dry completely, you can set them outside on your porch or use them inside. I love how shiny this silver pumpkin is.

I didn't cover these pumpkins with any kind of sealant. I made my pumpkins a couple weeks ago, set them outside and they still look amazing! I actually had a neighbor walk by my house and ask where I bought these pumpkins. Who knew that black stems could completely change the look of a pumpkin?
