Here is an easy and inexpensive project using discarded books. Old books with yellowed pages look vintage but any old books will look great for this project.

For a while I worked in our school library so I knew just where to find the supplies I needed for this project.

I'm giving these discarded children's books a new life.

I began by tearing out pages from an old book and cutting the pages into flag shapes. You can cut the pages into any shape you'd like.

Using string and a cordless glue gun,I folded over the top of the paper and hot glued it to the string.

Now for the fun part... cut hearts, use sequins, buttons, photos, whatever makes you happy to customize each flag.

You can use a heart hole punch to make cutting the hearts easier.

This one I embellished with pre-made tags that I just added to the top of the book pages.

These cute little banners can be made in any size to fit your need. A large book for a big beautiful mantel sized banner or cut tiny flags to decorate a small vignette.

I hope I've inspired you to give it a try today. Grab an old book and some glue and get started. For more fun and easy book page projects please visit Homeroad.net and search "book page" or visit the GO BOX below.
