Make a decorative basket for spring in minutes using Dollar Tree supplies!
Decorative Easter Basket DIY - Video by Craftidly.com
This basket is big. It's about 12" x 15" and it's the perfect size to dress up a porch or front entryway.
I filled my finished basket with faux flowers because it's early spring here and we still get frosty nights.
Fill and decorate your basket to match your decor and taste. Here are a few ideas...
- potted plants or faux flowers
- oversized Easter eggs or other decorations

How to Make a Decorative Easter Basket
To get started, you'll need four plastic fence pieces. Mine are from Dollar Tree but you can also find them at home improvement stores. Just make sure the plastic is flexible.
Take two fence pieces and form a basket out of them. Use wire or zip ties to secure the sides as needed.
Next, take another piece of plastic fence and cut it down (as shown above) to make a bottom for the basket. Again, use wire or zip ties to secure.
Take the fourth fence piece and cut two long strips (the length of the fence) to make a decorative handle.
Here's a photo of the two strips wired together to form a handle.
Secure the handle to the basket. I placed the handle ends on the inside of the basket and used wire to attach them to the sides.
Last, paint the basket inside and out with chalk paint, latex wall paint, or spray paint formulated to adhere to plastic.
Don’t worry about covering everything completely with paint. A little of the dark black showing through is okay and even gives this piece an aged look –much like painted wrought iron.
