At Christmas time I bought the votive flameless candles in red. I had an idea for a project that didn’t get done. So I quickly decided the red will work for Valentine’s Day as well. And that is just what I did.

The project started off with a block of wood from a pallet. I always save every piece of wood when I take a pallet apart. The first thing I did was to find the center of the top of the block of wood by drawing a diagonal line from one corner to the other. Repeat the step and you will have the center. After finding the center use a drill with a 1 ½ paddle drill bit to create a circle on the top of the wood. As you are drilling, every so often place the candle in to make sure it fits.

Once the hole is drilled it is time to paint the wood block. I used some creamy white chalk paint mixed for another project. You may need to paint it a couple of coats.

When the paint dried I transferred “Hugs & Kisses” to the front of the piece of wood. For a Rae Dunn look use the font, Desmond. But any font you like will do. One tip is to use a font that does not need to be perfect. I went back over “Hugs & Kisses” with a black Sharpie.

Sand the wood block and wax it. Put in the red flameless votive candle. Now enjoy your Valentine’s Day Candle Holder.
