I made a colorful ghost door mat using a Christmas mat that got ruined!

Damaged Christmas Mat

This mat was super cute, but got damaged somehow in the basement. I knew it would be perfect for trying a new DIY.

Spray paint!

Here's the first layer of spray paint on the mat!

Cut sponge into Ghost

You can cut him into any shape

Sponge and paint

Here are the colors I was thinking of using (I didn't end up using all of these!)

Spray paint I used

Here's the paint I used to cover the Christmas design

Coverage

Here you can see a little bit of the design through if you really try, but I think it's good enough for our purposes

Supplies!

Getting ready to paint. I ended up choosing only a few of the colors and I didn't use any of the glow paint.

Use Lots of Paint

At first I was too gentle with the paint and sponge. I found a ton of paint was the easiest way.

Press hard

The easiest way is to use a lot of paint and press hard.

Finished!

Here's the final product with no filter! You can use any colors or patterns.

Styled Pic!

Here's a picture of the finished mat in front of my bar cart :)
