DIY Halloween Front Door Sign
Want to add some simple decor to your front door this Halloween season? How about a fun wood sign? This project is quick and inexpensive. You can grab all the links to order the materials on my blog post here.
I love using COLORSHOT because of their slim cans and their propellant is derived from sugarcane (not petroleum). This paint can be found at The Home Depot or on their website at MyColorShot.com.
Grab wood cutouts at your local wood shop, craft store, or online at Amazon.com. My blog post has links for you here.
You want to make sure your area is free of wind to avoid overspray.
- First you’ll want to spray paint your individual sign pieces before gluing them all together.
- For the sign base, I used Princess Cut. Spray several light coats until you are happy with the coverage, letting dry between coats.
- Once your base coat is dry, run a few strips of 1/4″ of ribbon along the bottom with wood glue, about 1/4″ apart.
- Spray several light coats of Smoke & Mirrors over the bats.
- For the “boo” wording, spray just a light coat of Designer Sunglasses to create more of a rustic effect.
- Glue all your pieces onto the wood base where you like them.
- Staple a piece of ribbon to the back so you can hang it from the door.
- Tie a bow and staple gun it to the front as well.
Hang this from your door with a command hook. You can also place chair leg sticky pads on the back if you prefer so it will not bang on your door. Happy Decorating!
