I love decorating for the different holidays. And July Fourth is no different. But I usually only do neutral decor. Its hard to find neutral colored flags. So I decided to make my own. It only requires small amounts of material and scraps of material and lace. What ever you like! I even used some thicker jute for some. I used dollar store flag poles for my poles. you could easily use sticks for the yard or dowel rods.

I love how they blend right in with the regular flags and my DIY wooden firecrackers. You can find them in my list of projects here on Hometalk.

Here are my materials I used. Liquid stitch, dollar store flog pole.

Scrap material and lace trimmings.

I used tea dyed muslin for the main square. I just cut it to the measurement I wanted. I used some blue ticking for the stat square area. I glued that on with the liquid stitch.

Then I just started cutting material strips and lace strips to the size I needed for the stripes. Use your imagination here and make it fit your decor style.

I decided to add some eyelet ruffle on this one. just cutting and using the liquid stitch.

Now cut the flag off the dollar store pole. You can use that later for another project. Add some hot glue along the pole to fit the material on that you just created.

And hot glue it on. I went around the pole just a bit. It seemed to hold it better that way.

I am really glad I decided to think outside of the box for my flags. I really like them. How about you?
