MAKE YOUR OWN EASTER NAPKINS

Let’s decorate our Easter table with beautiful handmade napkins! It’s a fun and easy DIY. All you need are some plain napkins, a small Easter stamp and some ink. I think this cute little DIY turned out so good!

These napkins started as an unexpected DIY. It even has a sentimental touch. The other day I came across some really old white napkins from my childhood home. Glued in a corner of the napkins is my dad’s name. He used these napkins in his last years in the nursing home when everything he owned had to be tagged for the laundromat.

I think these napkins resurfaced after a purging spree, I probably had used them to store something safely and dust free in the attic. I washed them and was about to donate them when this little project sprung to mind.

First I looked for a stamp. As luck would have it I had these birds and nest stamp set. I have had them so long already I completely forgot about them. But I thought the little nest with eggs would be perfect for Easter.

I also had a still functioning ink pad in cobalt blue. It’s Archival Ink which means it is waterproof and good quality. A quick online search told me that oil based inks probably will hold up in the washing too. Although I didn’t really think it important for my napkins because I am already so happy to get this one extra use out of them.

And then I got to stamping….

and stamping…..

and stamping some more.

Some helpful stamping tips:

  1. Ink up your stamp thoroughly but keep it straight! You don’t want to ink up the edges, just the raised stamp.
  2. Nevertheless the edges and corners will get inked up too. Clean them after each row.
  3. To clean an oil based stamp: use baby wipes if you have them. Or as I did, use a permanent makeup remover on some cloth.
  4. Press the stamp firmly on the fabric. Don’t move it!
  5. Have fun!

When I was done stamping, I let the ink dry thoroughly.

I dry ironed the napkins on the back side to set the ink a bit more.

And then I got to set the Easter table with my new DIY stamped napkins.

I whipped up some herb napkin rings made with fresh thyme and some old curtain rings.

These are really easy to make. You can find instructions and a detail how-to shot in the original blog post (find the link to my post on the very bottom next to my profile picture).

Hmm. I am getting in the mood for our Easter dinner. Now that I have my Easter table setting figured out.

Don’t you think those napkins turned out lovely?
