Easy

It's not too early to be thinking about Thanksgiving! I picked up this plastic planter and thought hey, this shape would be the perfect pilgrim hat. A few short steps later, and it looks great! Take a look at how I did it.

Tools and Materials

First I gathered my materials. You can find such fun fall craft items at the dollar store or craft store.

Tools and Materials

Pot

My pot from Dollar store

Paint

1. Paint

I took the planter and a round metal sheet (Pizza pan) outside to spray paint them. I used a textured spray, and it gives it a nice faux fabric finish.

Paint the Planter

Once that layer dried, on to the next!

Inside of the Pot

No need to paint the inside of the planter.

Glue to Pot to the Pan

2. Glue to Pot to the Pan

I hot glued the pot to the pizza pan and also used some E6000 for a better grip.

Add a Ribbon

3. Add a Ribbon

Now it's time for some details. I used this really fun striped ribbon to go around the rim of the hat.

Create a Buckle

4. Create a Buckle

I rolled a small loop of ribbon to use as the "buckle".

Glue

And attached that with hot glue.

Glue in Place

You can use hot glue to keep it in place. Like this

Add Decor

5. Add Decor

I then picked out a few fall foliage stems for the extra touch!

And that's it, it's all done and looking great!

If you don't have much room for decorations, you could probably use a small paper plate and paper cup for a miniature?
