Want to get into the Halloween spirit without buying a bunch of stuff that you'll just have to store for the rest of the year?

Check out these fun and easy ways to use items you already have to create beautiful, and "Spooky" Halloween decor.
1. Shop Your Home
Chances are, you already have plenty of things around the house you could use in a Halloween display. Some things to gather might be:
  • Candles
  • Lanterns
  • Fabric Pieces
  • Dishes or Trays
2. Make Your Own Decorations
Cut ghosts out of paper. Make pipe-cleaner spiders. You could even make a papier mache jack-o-lantern. This is a fun way to use your creativity and make something fun for your house at the same time.

I made a simple "Spooky" sign with craft paint and glitter.
3. Bring the Outside In
Walk around your yard, or neighborhood park. Look for interesting branches, leaves, or other items you might bring inside.

A few stems of Chinese Lanterns are always great for fall decor. You could even create a bouquet of dead flowers for Halloween. (Probably the only time of year you wouldn't be embarrassed to have visitors see dead flowers in your home.)
4. Create a Collection of Small Things
Use a dish or tray to collect a few small items. This really adds interest to your display.

For example, I collected a small star made from sticks, a beautifully decayed holly leaf, and even a skeleton key on a chain. It's the little details that make the display special.
Let your creativity shine. Gather together favorite pieces that you already have to create a fun and festive Halloween display. You don't have to buy a single plastic pumpkin!
