I have another great patchwork project for you to use up all those fabric scraps. I made this patchwork American flag for Scout's room and she loves it. This was a fun project to make and this flag can be used as a wall hanging or as fun & colorful, patriotic home décor.

I have a never-ending pile of fabric scraps that worked perfect for this project.

Decide how big you want your flag and cut a piece of fabric to size. I had a scarf that was the perfect size, so I used that for the base of my flag.

You'll need a rectangle piece for the top left corner. Attach to the base piece with fabric glue. I used Aleene's Permanent Fabric Fusion.

Cut your fabric into strips and attach to the base as well.

When the fabric glue was completely dry, I added decorative stitching all over the flag with an embroidery floss and needle.

You can skip the embroidery part of this or add a quote to the quilt or stars in the corner. The possibilities are endless when it comes to customizing your American flag.

When you're happy with your flag, display somewhere you can enjoy it. You can hang it up, drape it over a chair or use it as a picnic blanket.
