We all have these pails in our craft junk! I just pierced a hole in the bottom with a kitchen knife and then used a pair of snips to cut out a good size hole. then used same kitchen knife to cut it down the back side. DONE! Just slip it over your light fixture~
Once the back was split open down to the hole at the bottom, I just slid it up onto the light fixture and it holds securely!

One I used a knife to puncture the bottom, I used snips and cut out a hole about 3" big.

This hole looked about the right size...it does not have to be completely round or even look neat!!!
I used a steak knife from the kitchen and cut it down the back, and was careful not to open it too widely to keep from breaking it in half.

Then just slip it up from the bottom until you get a snug fit. If it does not want to stay on your fixture, use a cord to tie it on!
