Halloween Potion Bottle

I have been ready for Halloween since last Halloween. If you cant tell, it's my absolute FAVORITE time of year. I'm always adding to my collection of decor and of course am avidly creating new crafts.

A few years ago I put together a few basic potion bottles together and adored the glass additions. This year I amped them up a bit all while keeping under a budget! Here's how I made skull inspired potion bottle decor.

Materials

For this project I used a recycled plastic bottle (Crown Royal, shhh), black acrylic, gold acrylic, plastic mini skull from Dollar Tree, jewelry spider and hot glue gun.

Step 1

I started by pouring a little bit of black paint in my empty and dried bottle. Then, replaced the cap and shook it so hard it would make Outkast proud.

I opted to paint the inside of the bottle rather than the outside, which would have required at least 3 coats of paint and would chip easily in storage.

Step 2

As the bottle dried a bit, I started on the mini plastic skull. With a sponge I dabbed a thick coat of gold paint until totally covered, allowed it to dry for 15 minutes and then added a second layer. Again I let the skull dry for about 15 minutes.

Step 3

After grabbing a snack and a second cup o' Joe, the skull was ready. After heating the hot glue gun I applied a liberal amount of hot glue to the base of the skull. Then placed the skull on top of the cap from the bottle.

Step 4

The final touch, a blinged out spider! Spooky and sparkly 🎃 Again I used the hot glue gun ans applied the hot glue to the bottom of the spider, pressed it onto the front of the bottle for a few seconds until the glue hardened.

End Result

And that's it! Make several for pennies and use as decor around the house or for a party.

Alternative idea: fill empty bottles with colored water instead of paint!

Have fun with this DIY and Happy Halloween!
