Here’s a super easy DIY to spook up your mantle! Better yet, it is made with supplies most crafters have on hand, or can be acquired easily.

What you’ll need:

-a printer

-Modge Podge or watered down glue

-glass bottles in various shapes and sizes (*see below)

-optional: spray paint (I used a matte clear and black)

*Being a crafter, I save unique bottles when I come across them. Several of the bottles I used for this project were acquired by asking neighbors and friends. Recycling centers are another good place find glass bottles.

Pick some bottles and decide what type of labels you want on them.

Print out labels. Here’s a link to some fun, pre-made ones: https://blog.worldlabel.com/2014/printable-halloween-apothecary-bottle-labels.html

You can change the wording on these a little if you want. Also, rather than printing a sheet of labels, I saved each label design. Paste each design in Word, size them as desired and print them out.

Soaking the bottles helps to remove the old labels.

(To save time, you can put the bottles in to soak while you work in printing and cutting out labels.)

After the bottles are clean, you may want to “age” some. I used a matte clear spray paint all over the clear bottles, then indirectly sprayed/misted with black to give little specks.

Lay out your bottles and labels, then attach using Modge Podge (or watered down glue works well). Apply a thin layer to the back of your potion label, carefully press in place, smoothing out the bubbles. It you want, you can also put some Modge Podge on the front of the label to seal it.

Enjoy your no-cost Halloween potion bottles!

if you want, you could even put things inside the transparent ones, or add some glow paint to them and put them under a black light!
