Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite holidays because CANDY! Made from a wooden heart and paper plate, accented with fingerprint hearts, this Dollar Tree Hot Air Balloon Valentine Mailbox will make your kiddos’ heart soar! Quick and easy to create in just about 30 minutes.

Gather all supplies. Basecoat the wooden heart plaque with poodle skirt pink acrylic paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Create hearts by dipping your index finger into red paint and stamping onto the plaque twice in the shape of a “V”. Repeat this pattern all over the plaque.

Flip a dessert sized paper plate over and paint on stripes with brown craft paint.

Rotate plate and paint perpendicular stripes to create a woven or plaid pattern.

Once dry, cut the plate in half with scissors.

Measure and cut two twelve-inch lengths of red checkered ribbon with scissors.

Line up both halves of the paper plate and secure them together at the bottom with a stapler.

Insert ends of ribbon between side edges of the paper plate halves and secure all edges with a stapler.

Flip wooden heart plaque over and attach both ribbons to the back with the glue gun and glue sticks.

Tie a twelve-inch length of red checkered ribbon into a bow and glue to the front center of the hot air balloon basket.

Measure and cut a scrap of white cardstock one-inch wide by three inches long. Write the child’s name on cardstock with a red marker and then cut a “V” from the end with scissors. Attach name tag under the bow with the glue gun and glue sticks.

Your Hot Air Balloon Valentine's Mailbox is now complete! This is a fun activity to keep the kiddos busy with counting and motor skills. Create this super cute Hot Air Balloon Valentine Mailbox in just about 30 minutes, not including drying time!
