How to Build an Easy Easter Tablescape

Here’s how to make an easy Easter tablescape that I’m using for Easter dinner this year. I love to decorate for every holiday and hope to inspire you with ways of accessorizing with eggs, nests, or bunnies so as to help you have the best Easter decor ever! Pro-tip: To start with, I LOVE to layer multiple items so as to create a luxurious-looking table setting. Look through your linen closet and drawers to locate pieces to layer such as placemats, chargers, candles, etc.

1. All tablescapes start with a bare table. Mine is a sand-colored quartzite one. If your table isn’t as neutral of a canvas as this one, just cover your table with a solid tan or white cloth as your first step.

2. So the second step, is to put a runner down the center of your table. Because my dining room table is so wide (six feet!) I actually decided to put two matching striped runners width-wise. Then, I layered over the runner solid yellow placemats (similar). I like pastel Easter table decorations because they look so Spring-like.

3. Then, for my Easter tablescape centerpiece, I used a very fun wreath (similar), which has numerous pastel eggs glued onto it. I think it’s a cool idea to use a wreath as a centerpiece as it is interesting but low enough that people can readily see over it when seated.

4. As I continued to layer items, I added hammered silver chargers (similar) which add an element of reflected light, once the candles are lit. Pro-tip: I love the use of reflected light, so I enjoy silver or brass chargers, silver or gold-plated silverware, and of course, candles.

5. Next, I placed miniature salt and pepper shakers at each place setting, as well as these cute bee-embossed glasses for water. My dinner plates are basic Crate and Barrel white ceramic ones and the white ceramic bunny pitcher (old, similar one, here) for water adds a playful dimension to the Easter tablescape.

6. Now the above three photos are very fun as they are three different bunny-inspired salad or dessert plates ( similar, here) that I actually found several years ago at Lazy-Boy Showcase Store in the accessory department! I know, that’s a crazy place to find such great plates, but I LOVE FUN TABLE ACCESSORIES so I collect them whenever I find them!

7. Here’s where I added some more Easter whimsy. I took multicolored paper easter grass and made little nests all around the table to add bits of color. Then in the center of each nest, I added a white unscented votive candle in a clear votive holder. Pro-tip: White unscented votive candles in clear holders go with just about any table setting. Go with unscented to avoid having fragrances compete with the meal flavors and to avoid causing migraines in people who are very sensitive to them. Pro-tip: Also if your guests will include children, it’s ALWAYS SAFER to use battery-operated votive lights instead of lit candles. Really. Safety first.

I also added bunny napkins ( similar, here) folded in the shape of a bunny. Here’s a video I found on you-tube to do this. This really added some more whimsy to my Easter Tablescape, don’t you agree?

Then, I thought I was done but when I came back to look at the entire Easter tablescape, I felt it needed an element of flowers. So I added the white silk hydrangea arrangement that is usually placed in the center of my dining room table throughout the year. Because the end of the table is not going to be occupied by a guest, I decided to place the flowers there. Isn’t it a cool addition?
