Golden Orb Thanksgiving Tablescape

I love thinking of new ways to bring dramatic visual style to the table, whether it's for a special event, Thanksgiving, or a wedding. This year for Thanksgiving, I decided to suspend hundreds of gold orbs over the table. It was very magical.
There were also gold orbs hot glued to the branches in the tall vases, so it would look like they had fallen on the branches.
This is how it all started. Ping pong balls. I used ping pong balls because they are so lightweight and cheap. Boxes of practice balls were only $8.30 for 144 on Amazon. I used four boxes, so almost 600 balls altogether.
Then I spray painted them one at a time with gold spray paint.
I strung them together with a long needle and thread to make strands of 4, 5 and 6 ping pong balls.
Where the thread met the surface of the balls, I put a dab of glue so the balls would not slide down.
Each strand was attached to the ceiling with poster putty.
I also put battery operated LED lights on the branches in the tall vases so that the light would reflect on the shiny gold orbs.
At night, the combination of the lights and the gold were really stunning.

I love this - were the vases glass? They're so tall I wondered if they were sturdy enough o stand on their own holding those branches.
