Moss Inspired Mini Garden Centerpiece

I've been noticing a lot of moss in my yard and it's starting to look really green now that spring is around the corner.
I wanted to bring some of that green goodness inside to brighten our home and since we are having the family over for Easter dinner I thought I'd make a centerpiece for the dining table.
I found a shiny tray at Hobby Lobby but had to distress it. So I tried letting it sit on its side in a couple inches of vinegar, turning it every couple of hours.


Then I just played around with blue and black craft paint to get a nice patina.
Then I went out and dug out sheets of moss. I really didn't even have to dig. The moss just lifted up so easily.
