We love Halloween at our house. It's getting more and more fun as our sons are getting older and more independently involved as adults. Our 18 year old offered to help decorate our home this year, and we opted for a quick fun fix for our downstairs bathroom door. Turn it into a mummy!

The project started way back, actually, when I decided to paint all our woodwork, doors included, white. Here's a picture of what our doors and trim used to look like. Our house is 1949, with a 2011 addition. So the woodwork was very orange tone. So I opted to paint to update the look.

Here's the work in progress. I don't have a finished picture of the final white, but I think you can get the basic idea. For such a small hallway, it really made a dramatic difference, brightening up and visually enlarging the space.

Since the door was already painted white, it was easy to tackle this fun Halloween project. Using a roll of toilet paper (how apropos!) and some construction paper we had laying around, we got to work. Our son cut out the eyes from yellow paper, while I cut out the oval "face" portion. I do not have pictures of this step either, but our son traced a bowl and then just cut out the pupil area. We taped them up on the door and then used strips of toilet paper at all different angles around the eye area, taping the strips on either side of the door. It was a very fast, fun and easy job to do together. Teamwork is great!

Here's the final product! It's a hoot and we love it! So simple, so much fun, and wescotc smile every time we look at it! Happy Halloween everyone!
