Creating a Halloween Owl Pumpkin is easy with Kunin Brand Felt! Owls just happen to be my favorite animal to craft and Halloween is my favorite holiday, so this super fun no-carve owl pumpkin combines both in one project. The best of both worlds! A quick and easy activity to create with the kiddos in about an hour!

Paint Your Pumpkin

Basecoat paper mache pumpkin with Jack-O-Lantern Orange and while still wet, blend Burnt Orange into the grooves. Paint the pumpkin stem Dark Chocolate.  Let paint dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Americana Acrylics by DecoArt are rich and thick, giving one-coat coverage, which is why I prefer them.

Download and Print Templates

Download and print NO CARVE OWL PUMPKIN PATTERNS here: https://creativelybeth.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/NO-CARVE-OWL-PUMPKIN-PATTERNS.pdf Cut out all patterns. Trace and cut all patterns on Kunin Classic™ Felt according to the instructions below with a MONOTWIN permanent marker. Walnut Brown – 2 wings and 1 large eye; Pumpkin Spice – 1 medium scalloped eyes; Prickly Purple – 1 small eye, 2 chest feathers, and 16 wing feathers; Orchid – 1 chest feathers and 16 wing feathers; Gold – 2 talons, 1 beak, and 1 head feathers; Cream – 2 single eyes.

Cut Out Felt Pieces

Cut out all felt pieces with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines, so that your finished project is neat and clean.

Assemble Felt Pieces

Assemble the pieces with Fabri Fuse Glue. Attach the feathers randomly to both wings. Stack the owl face in the following order: Walnut Brown, Pumpkin Spice, Prickly Purple, Cream, and two black buttons. Attach beak at the bottom and head feathers to the top to complete the owl face. Set aside for approximately one hour to dry.

Attach Felt Pieces to Pumpkin

Attach the remaining pieces and parts directly on the paper mache pumpkin with a hot glue gun and glue sticks, using the photo below as your guide. Embrace the ridges of the pumpkin and use them to create added texture to the owl.

Your Project is Complete!

I hope you will use my Halloween Owl Pumpkin as a jumping-off point to showcase your Kunin Creativity and create something to celebrate Halloween! And if the owl isn’t your spirit animal, then create a fox, raccoon, or deer. Therefore, the possibilities are endless!
