Plastic Bag Chicks and Cereal Box Basket – Upcycled Easter DIY

Have you seen those cute roosters or chicks sewn out of fabric scraps in to a triangle bean bag shape? Well I wanted to make a small version to go with my paper mache eggs and I decided to see if I could make a no-sew version out of white grocery bags. Here is what I came up with.

The project starts with some fused plastic grocery bags cut into a rectangle shape. For more information on how to prep grocery bags for craft project check out the link here.

Once the rectangle shape was cut I used a cotton ball and some yellow alcohol ink to color one side of the plastic.

You want to use plastic gloves as the alcohol ink will stain your hands.

Instead of sewing the sides together I used my hot glue gun to melt the plastic edges together to make a seam.

Once I had two side fused together I filled the pouch with a cotton ball and some dry rice. And then fused the last side closed to make the triangle pyramid shape.

To finish the chick I glued on some "head feathers" and a beak, drew on some eyes and added some little wire legs.

You can find all the details in the attached video.
