I skipped Valentine’s Day decor last year and had considered doing the same this year too but was persuaded otherwise. So then I couldn’t help myself and just had to update a little. I removed any touches of red and replaced with neutral heart garlands which were so simple and easy to make.
Quick and Easy Neutral Valentine’s Decor
First I made some book page heart garlands. I took a heart shaped cookie cutter to draw on the shape. I used two sizes to make two different sized garlands.
I cut out all the hearts individually but I could have layered the paper for speed if I had been using bigger pages.
I used some white thread and a needle and made a white stitch at the top of each heart to form the garland.
Next I made another heart garland using wool wrapped around cardboard heart cut outs.
I used a smaller sized cookie cutter to cut out the shapes.
Then I took a cream coloured wool and wrapped around the hearts in all different directions until they were covered.
I tied the loose end at the back.
Then I adjusted the wool in places to make sure any uncovered areas were fixed.
I then used white thread in the same way as I strung the paper hearts together, stitching cotton thread at the back, to form the garland.
I hung the smaller heart garland with the wool heart garland on a mirror. I used some plain ribbon to style and complete the look. I also used the larger heart garland to hang on the shelf below.
The other heart garland I took and added to another area to complete the look in this space. I love how simple and easy these Valentine’s garlands were to make and they add the perfect neutral touch to my current decor! I hope this inspires you that you can create decor to add to your current collection for free using things from around your home.
