Finally got around to one of my projects – a spooktacular fall wreath! I had obtained some of the materials a few weeks ago, but never finished up shopping for this project. I decided I would try to put it together this evening and it looks pretty good! Very likely I will be adding to it, but wanted to at least inspire you while we’re all getting ready for the fall season. Here is my spooktacular fall wreath.

I was trying to keep this fall wreath under $20. the way as shown, including tax its $16.67. Not too bad on the budget! From Walmart, I had gather a roll of burlap, purple halloween garland claiming to be 6ft long, fuzzy spiders and black pipe cleaners (which I didn’t use after all).

To create the base, I grabbed an old pipe insulator and formed it into the correct size of wreath I wanted. I guessed I wanted it about 14 inches in the center. I cut a few inches longer and just pushed the 2 ends together.

From there I began to just wrap the burlap roll. I didn’t anchor it or glue. I just went for it.

I had about 2 layers onto it when I tucked in the very end. I also noticed there was a nice little pocket area where I could likely tuck the battery box for the lights.

This is where my disappointment came into play. Do you see the lights? 6 feet of lights sounds like a lot but not when its all twisted together. I had to play around with the placement and fluff the lights as best as I could.

This is where I got stuck again. I believed the wreath needed more, something to reflect the light. But I wanted to also add those spiders onto. I came up with the idea of putting a “spider web” onto the wreath hoping it would help pull my ideas together.

I used “snow” from last year’s Christmas display. The lights seemed to grasp it. From there I added the spiders, batteries, and hoped it would be okay.

It has potential!

What a relief! It came together and I didn’t have to shell out a lot of money to make it happen! It looks a little lopsided here, but I’ve got room to shape and add to it. I can’t wait for the little ghouls and goblins to see this come Halloween. Spooktacular fall wreath!
