Spooky Silhouette Halloween Mantel
I was super excited when the owner of the local coffee shop (where I spend way too much time) asked me to help her decorate for Halloween. It was so much fun to put some creative touches in place at the local hangout and to create a spooky silhouette themed mantel with some unexpected twists - like butterflies!
The main parts of the mantel were: old windows (you could use picture frames), tattooed pumpkins, tall candles, mini pumpkins, and a black boa.
I used a tree silhouette that I drew (you can grab that template on the blog post). I painted the glass in decoart gloss enamels in gold first and let it dry and then transferred my image on top of it and painted it black. I did two coats of black.

I added a glittering black crow that I bought at the craft store. For the second window on the mantel, I did the same process but I turned it to be more horizontal and added a few extra crows
Small white pumpkins added a touch of contrast to the black decor. I used my tattoo method to pout "poison labels" on each pumpkin. I bought plain candles at the grocery store for 1.00 and wrapped them in tulle and then glue on small butterflies in coordinating colors. To soften the look I intertwined a black boa across the mantel.

Here you can see how I wrapped tulle around the candles. I affixed the tulle on the backside and the butterflies with hot glue.
It looks spookier in black and white!
