Curious about how to decorate a dough bowl for Summer? A combination of flags & vintage baseballs may be just the answer!

Are you are looking for a quick idea on how to decorate a dough bowl for Summer? I have just the answer! All you need are a round dough bowl, a trio of American flags, and an assortment of vintage baseballs and softballs!

The Round Dough Bowl

This dough bowl was carved out of a piece of cherry wood by a gentleman in Indiana. It was one of the many things I found when going through my Mother’s collections. Since she saved everything, she had even saved the pamphlet that came with the bowl when she purchased it!

The Elements

This trio of American flags is the perfect size to fit in the center of the dough bowl. I added a terra cotta saucer turned upside down to the center of the bowl so that the flags would be raised up in the center of the bowl.

A collection of vintage baseballs and softballs represent one of the summer’s favorite past times. They are placed in the dough bowl around the base of the flag holder. A piece of flag themed navy blue material is used as a runner on the primitive wood table.

Substitutions:

Mini flags from any country could be used. Perhaps you are a NASCAR or racing fan, you could use mini black & white checkered flags. Instead of baseballs, golf balls could be substituted, and the flags could be changed to mini pennants that are on top of the pins on the golf course.

Other Centerpieces Featuring Flags & Baseballs

Here are a few examples of other centerpieces that I have made using flags & baseballs to celebrate the summer holidays!

What can I use If I don’t have a dough bowl?

Don’t fret if you don’t have a dough bowl! I used a galvanized hog feeder to make this 4th of July inspired display! I actually found it in the barn when I was back in Illinois working on cleaning out the homestead. More details about what I found in the barn can be found in this post: Look What We Found in the Barn!

I was actually found some of those baseballs in the barn too! I was happy to find things to use in this centerpiece. I hadn’t planned to still be in Illinois over the 4th that year but things didn’t go quite like I planned! My 11 day trip turned into 45 days! Downsizing the family homestead and settling my parents’ estate was a long process!

My estimated cost was based on only having to purchase the flags and the stand. If you need to purchase a dough bowl or more baseballs, the cost would be higher.
