Thanksgiving Decor - DIY Thankful Pumpkins

I am absolutely in love with this whole idea and these pumpkins and think that they are a great new tradition to start with your family for the Thanksgiving holiday. These pumpkins are set out on Thanksgiving and everyone that attends your Thanksgiving dinner can write down what they are thankful for.

These sweet little pumpkins will be a great way to help remind your kids that they have a lot to be thankful for and a beautiful way to share your gratitude with your adult family.

Plus, they are a super easy and very cheap DIY project that you can even do with your kids and they are beautiful to decorate your Thanksgiving table and your home with.

Start by getting a few of these foam pumpkins. I found mine at our local dollar store for $1 each, but I'm sure you can find them at most any big box stores. You can also get any size you wish, depending on how many people will be at your Thanksgiving dinner / holiday.

Then all you need is some acrylic paint. I chose this teal color because it goes with my Thanksgiving home decor colors. I gave my pumpkins about 3 coats of paint. Make sure that you let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next coat or you are going to get streaks in your paint.

Then add a special touch to your pumpkin's stem. Take some twine, yarn or even ribbon and use your hot glue gun to attach the twine to your stem. Keep wrapping the twine around the stem, hot gluing it in place until you have the entire stem covered.

Then all your need is all of your loved ones and a permanent marker! Let everyone jot down on the pumpkin things that they are thankful for. You can do one for kids, one for each family, etc - however you want to set them up. Make sure also, that if you do plan to save them, that you remember to write down the year on the pumpkin so you can remember when each one was filled out.

It would be so wonderful to store them throughout the year and bring them out every year at Thanksgiving to remind yourself and everyone else in the family all of the things that you are / were thankful for that year.

Happy Thanksgiving!
