After taking the last calcium supplement in my bottle, instead of recycling the bottle like I usually do, I turned it into an adorable jack-o-lantern to use for icon Halloween decor.

Learn How to Create This Adorable Jack-o-Lantern

I can't get enough of Halloween once the calendar rolls over to October. Let's see how I upcycled a medicine bottle into an adorable jack-o-lanternicon !

Material Used to Make the Upcyled Jack-o-Lantern

For this project, I used these materials:

  • Sundown Naturals Calcium Bottle
  • Brown Floral Bind Wire (See tip below if you don't have this.)
  • Black Vinyl (See tip below if you don't have a Cricut or Silhouette machine.)
  • Faux leaves
  • Twine
  • E6000 Glue
  • Goo Gone

Remove the Label from the Medicine Bottle

I used a large orange medicine bottle for this project but a small pill bottle could be used as well.

Peel off the label and then remove the residue with Goo Gone. Wash the bottle to make sure that it is perfectly clean.

Add the Face and Stem to the Bottle

Use a Cricut or Silhouette machine to cut out a jack-o-lantern face. (Link to a pattern to use on my blog post.)

If you don't have a cutting machine, simply cut out face pieces using electrical tape.

Glue a pumpkin or gourd stem to the top of the bottle using E6000 glue.

icon Tip: Save your pumpkin and gourd stems. At the end of fall, I cut mine off before throwing my pumpkins and gourds into my compost pile. Dry them and then use them for crafts!

Finish the Top of the Jack-o-Lantern

Glue leaves next to the stem using E6000 glue.

Use bind wire to make curled tendrils to wrap around the bottle top. Check out the details on my blog post. (Link below)

icon Tip: If you don't have bind wire, dip twine in Mod Podge, wrap around a pencil and let dry to create tendrils.

Decorate Using Your Jack-o-Lantern

Create a Halloween vignette using your adorable jack-o-lantern. I display mine on a stack of vintage books.

Lol I was just looking at my vitamin bottle yesterday thinking it would be a cute pumpkin. Lol last year used a cap from the tide bottle. I believe its the yellow tide. Clean some rhing or other. Any way it has an clear orange cap. So I grab a sharpie drew a face and stuck a battery operated tea light in it, it was cute. I dont remember if api save it for this year or if I threw it out.
