My favorite types of crafting projects are those that involve using "stuff" I already have plenty of at home. Case in point, I have an overflowing basket of fabric of all shapes and sizes. What to do with it all? Turn it into a super simple Valentine's Day re-purpose crafting project.
Assembling my assortment of fabric scraps, polyfil and some heart-shaped cookie cutters, I folded the fabric in half and traced various heart sizes. Remember to get both a back and front!
Use a heart cookie cutter to trace and cut heart shapes out of fabric.
I opted to sew the hearts together but you could easily glue the pieces. I sewed the fabric, leaving an opening to insert polyfil.
Insert the filler and a bamboo skewer. Pin the pieces and close up the opening with either your sewing machine or glue. If using a sewing machine, just be careful not to sew over the skewer. No craft is worth a broken machine! Visit for final project.
If desired, cut down the length of the bamboo skewers so the fabric hearts sit at different heights. These fabric heart decorations would make fun cake toppers, festive plant stakes or cute tabletop holiday decor. For other Valentine's Day ideas, see how I used wire dry cleaner hangers to make easy wire mesh heart wreaths.
