With Valentines Day just around the corner, I was feeling inspired to add a little Valentine’s Day decor to my entry. I don’t typically decorated for Valentine’s Day, but I have been seeing these adorable yarn hearts popping up all over Pinterest and wanted to give them a try.

These were so fun and simple to make and I think they add such a soft cozy touch to my entry. They are a perfect transition from winter to spring decor.

Read below to find out how you can make your own yarn hearts this Valentine’s Day.

Begin by cutting out several cardboard hearts. I used a cereal box and a cookie cutter to trace out the heart shapes.

Next choose what colour you would like your hearts to be. I have seen so many beautiful variations of these, but I decided to keep mine neutral to compliment my existing decor.

Tape the end of your yarn to the middle of the cardboard heart to keep it secure.

Start wrapping the yarn around the cardboard heart. It’s better if you don’t overthink this step and just wrap the yarn around the cardboard randomly. Continue to do so until you no longer see any cardboard showing.

When you are done wrapping the yarn cut the yarn leaving a six inch tail. Secure the yarn by tying a knot around one of the wrapped pieces. Using the remaining tail create a little loop at the top for hanging.

I strung my yarn hearts onto a wooden bead garland that I already had on hand. I think this adds a nice texture and complements the neutral yarn that I chose.

I think these turned out so sweet, and I am thinking of making several more to hang throughout the rest of my home.
