I used Annie Sloan paint and Unicorn Spit to paint 2 vases to look like black candle's dripping red wax, accenting them with a black rose.
I found two clear vases at the local op shop and thought they were perfect to make look like candles. I first cleaned the vase's and painted them with modge podge so the chalk paint would bond to the glass. (I don't have photos to show these stages.) Once the modge podge was dry, I painted the vases with Annie Sloan graphite chalk paint. Once the chalk paint was dry, I painted the vases with Unicorn Spit Midnight blackness. Once that was dry, I diluted molly red pepper in a small bottle with water. I wanted the consistency of the molly red pepper to be thick enough for coverage, however thin enough to run a little. I started at the rim of the the vase. I used the small bottle to squeeze the molly red pepper down the vase where I wanted it, to have the appearance melted wax.
I sealed the vases with two coats of polyurethane.
I brought two artificial black roses online.
I wanted the leaves and stems black. I used painter's tape to protect the petals.
I used rust-oleum black gloss spray paint to make the leaves and stem black.
I used the same small bottle of diluted molly red pepper to squeeze small droplets onto the petals, stem and leaves of the black rose.
I sealed the droplets of molly red pepper with polyurethane. Project complete!
