Diy Boho Easter Basket
Who says Easter baskets are only for kids? In less than 10 minutes, I converted simple placemats into DIY boho Easter baskets for my sweet daughter-in-laws, and I’m in love with them. Not only are they modern and fresh, they’re functional. Once emptied, they can be used in a myriad of ways. And did I mention that I just love them?

- supplies needed:placemat
- gift bag
- sewing machine
step 1 – side seamsI always find the cutest kitchen linens at World Market, which is where I picked up these sweet designs.
First, fold the placemat in half, with right sides together, then stitch together at both sides.
step 2 -bottom seams
Fold open one side seam, as shown below, creating a triangle shape. Press seam open, then stitch along the red lines in the photo below. Repeat this process for the other side seam as well.
That’s it. Just 4 seams in total! Press well, then turn bag right side out.
step 3 – insert liner
To give the bag more form, use an old paper gift bag as an insert. I usually keep a stash of gift bags with the intention of re-using them. Well, here’s your chance! Find one with a bottom that is close in size to the woven basket; it’s okay if it’s slightly larger. Before inserting, cut the top off the bag so it is about an inch shorter than the basket. Insert snugly into the basket and watch your boho Easter basket come to life.
step 4 – fill with goodies
This is the fun part! I only have two sons, so it’s an understatement to say that I love finally having girls in the family. Let’s face it, shopping for girls is way more fun than shopping for guys. First, fill with paper grass. Next, add any large gift items. And finally, add the remaining small items.
step 5 – add a tassel
Obviously, this step is optional, but adding a handmade tassel gives the basket a festive boho flavor. These adorable tassels are incredibly easy to make; check out the tutorial. I simply tied the tassel to one of the gifts then draped it over the outside of the basket. When I saw how cute it looked, I immediately made a second basket! And truthfully, what’s there not to love about these DIY boho Easter baskets?
The biggest compliment is a little share – pin the photo below!
