Display your stockings with these easy DIY Christmas Stocking Hangers. They look great and are quick, cheap, and simple Christmas decorations to make for the holiday season. They dress up your fireplace a little more than the traditional stocking hangers and can be personalized to match any decor.

I have always wanted a fancy mantel to hang our stockings and this year we are able to do that since we made our own  mantel. We also recently made  personalized stockings with wooden gift tags but we had no way of hanging them on our wood beam mantle. I looked online and in various stores but didn’t find anything that sparked joy. So we decided to make our own wood Farmhouse inspired Gift Box Stocking Hangers. The best thing about them is that they can serve a Christmas decor if you don’t have stockings. They are cutest give boxes you will ever see!

This is how you can make your own Gift Box Stocking Hangers...

Supplies:

  • 1- 4x4x8
  • Variety of ribbon
  • Cabinets knobs
  • White paint
  • 150 grit sandpaper

Tools:

  • Drill/drill bit
  • Miter saw
  • Bolt cutter

Step 1: Cut wood...

  • Cut 5 pieces 4” inches tall to make 4x4x4 boxes.

Step 2. Predrill holes...

  • With a drill bit- predrill holes for your screws on the front center of each box.

Step3: Cut the screws...

  • Cut the head of each screw with a bolt cutter.
  • Then insert the screw into the predrilled hole.

Step 4: Sand and paint...

  • With 150 grit sandpaper give each box a light sanding.
  • Then give it 2 coats of white semigloss paint.

Step 5: Embellish your Gift Box stocking Hangers...

  • Using an assortment of ribbons wrap the wood square like a gift box.
  • Start with the widest wired ribbon - cut 2 - 20” pieces. Place the one first piece at the front of the box and using scissors cut out a small hole for the screw to go through.
  • Add the second piece of ribbon to the opposite side.
  • Then continue by adding thinner ribbon- cut 2 -20inch pieces and layer them on top of the first ribbon.
  • Bunch all the pieces on top and tie them off with a piece of twine.
  • Create a bow by curling the wired ribbon on to itself.
  • You can hot glue it - we did not just in case we want to change the ribbon out.

Step 6: Attach the hardware and Enjoy...

Screw on doorknobs.

Place on your mantel and add your favorite personalized stockings and let the festivities begin!
