DIY Valentine's Day Tic-Tac-Toe Coasters

Easy
Does Valentine's Day sneak up on anyone else besides me? This year I was determined to get an earlier start on a fun little project for our kiddos and these cute coasters were the result. Best of all, they're quick and easy.
The inspiration for this project was that stack of tiles in our garden shed. I wanted to find another way to use some of them, and when I started thinking about a Valentine's Day project, it all came together.
I started by cutting out some 4- 1/4 by 4-1/4 squares of scrapbook paper from Valentine's Day prints. By the way, did you know that 4 by 4 ceramic tiles don't measure 4 by 4? There's an extra quarter inch on both sides! Good to know before you start cutting your paper.
Next, I brushed a thin layer of Mod Podge for paper over each tile,
then smoothed it out using a plastic card (which works just as well as the tools you can buy for the same purpose.)
I used some 3-inch, stand-alone wood X's and O's as templates and traced 5 patterns of each onto a coordinating paper, then cut them out.
I brushed a thin layer of Mod Podge on the back of the letters, then followed the same method to apply them in the center of each tile.
I gave them each a couple of extra coats on top and the sides to seal them well, used hot glue to attach the cork coasters on the back, and they were done!
Here's what you'll need to make a set of your own! You can find supply links on the blog.
Enjoy!
