Easy & Fun Ways to Embellish Your Packages

Forget those store-bought Christmas bows. Here are four easy and fun ways to decorate your packages that only take a few minutes.
You put so much thought into each gift you‘ve purchased this holiday season. Shouldn’t you wrap that gift with as much thought?
For our first idea, all you need is three different patterned rolls of washi tape.
A: I used three patterns that came together in one package.
B: I cut the pieces beginning with the smallest piece at the top
C: Then gradually increased the size
D: Ending up with a washi Christmas tree.
You could really make any simple design using any color of washi tape.
For our next idea, you’ll need two straws and some twine. I used red and white paper straws and red and white baker’s twine but you can use any color you like.
The straws measured 7-1/2” so I cut the straw into three equal pieces measuring 2-/2” each. You will need five pieces of straw.
You will be threading the twine through all five pieces of straw.Before you begin threading, add a piece of tape to the end of the twine. This will make it easier to thread.
Once the twine is through all five pieces, tie the ends together. Don’t tie it too tightly; as this will make it difficult to maneuver into a star shape.
Now to make a star:
A: Form the straws into the shape of a house
B: Push the top two pieces together
C: Move those two pieces to the left, over the top of the first side of the triangle and then under the bottom of the triangle.
D: Pull the ends out to form the star
Thread the twine through one of the straws.
I used a thin paint brush to push the twine through.
Center the star on your package and wind the twine to the back of the package.
Bring one end of the twine around the front and push though another straw.
Bring that end to the back of the package and tie closed.
And there is a simple star embellishment.
For this idea:
A: Begin with a garland pipecleaner
B: With your package underneath, form a circle to fit the package size and twist closed.
C: Twist the longer ends into the wreath
D: Place the ”fuller” part towards the top of the wreath
Next,
A: Cut a long piece of twine and fold in half. One end will have the cut ends and one end will be a loop.
B: Place the loop under the wreath and form a slip knot.
C: Pull the slip knot tightly around the wreath.
Next,
A: I added a small bunch of pine cones and berries to hide the twine.
B: Bring both ends of the twine around to the back of the package.
C: Bring only one piece of twine to the front of the packa and place it under and around the end of the wreath.
D: Bring that piece of twine to the back of the package and tie it closed. There is a simple holiday wreath.
There you have four very easy, very simple, very cute embellishments for your packages. When you give your gifts to your friends and family, they will love the look of the outside of the package as mush as what’s inside.

The Christmas tree with the yarn is AWESOME and so easy. I haven't used store bought bows for years. Great ideas...WELL DONE!
