One way I have found that helps me stay connected with my kids is making Mama and Me Books. A Mama and Me book is a diary of letters that you send back and forth between you and your child. And there's an easy but beautiful way to make these journals using cheap composition notebooks and scrapbook paper. I have lots of ideas about staying connected as a family on my blog. Like this simple Love Game for Kids.
Grab some scissors, a pencil, glue stick, and some scrapbook paper sheets of your choice. You will need 4 pieces of scrapbook paper (8.5 x 11 size).

You will also need a composition notebook. Sometimes you can find them for only .50 during back to school time!
1.  Place a sheet of scrapbook paper on the front cover up the the edge of the binding.  If needed tack with a drop of glue to hold in place while you do step 2.

2.  Trace the front cover by holding the paper in place and flipping it over.  Trace the edge of the whole cover on the back of the paper.
Here's your tracing of the cover.
3. Cut out your tracing and repeat for the back cover also.
4. Using glue stick, coat the front and back notebook with a generous amount of glue.
5.  Stick the scrapbook paper in place and let dry. Repeat for the back cover.
6.  If you want, do the same thing for the inside covers as well.
Embellish and decorate the cover as much as you want.  I used ribbon.
And you're done! Use it to write letters back and forth with your child and stay connected with them. See how I use them on my blog at http://makinglifeblissful.com/2015/08/easy-diy-mama-and-me-books.html

That’s a fast way to cover The notebook. Some years ago I’ve made a stuffed cover with using fabric and a quilting foam covering the whole notebook.
