My daughter likes to make gingerbread houses, but I'm not really good at decorating cakes or cookies or gingerbread. I made gingerbread houses out of soap instead.

I used this gingerbread house silicone mold. It's meant for cakes or some baked goods, but I used it for soap.

Start by melting a pound of melt and pour soap. Add brown color until you get it to the right shade. You can also add 1 tablespoon of shea butter if you want. Add 1 teaspoon gingerbread essential oil if desired.

Melt it in the microwave at 30 second intervals until it's melted. Pour into the soap mold and spray with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles.

Once the soap has cooled and you can take it out of the mold, you'll need to make your whipped soap for the snow.

Melt 2 ounces of melt and pour soap in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Then add 1 tablespoon of glycerin.

Use a hand mixer with a whisk attachment to whip it for several minutes until it looks like whipped cream.

Then I made a paint with mica to color the houses. I put 1/8 teaspoon mica in a disposable cup and used a dropper to add rubbing alcohol until it made a paint. Use a paint brush to paint your soap.

Have fun decorating your gingerbread house!

You can use these just like you'd use soap.
