Holiday Sleeves With a Gift Card Holder For Candy Bars and Candy Boxes

This is an easy-peasy project so it is perfect to jazz up your last minute Christmas treats and stocking stuffers. I also have an option to add a pocket for your gift card and that takes it to the next level. Here is how I put together my holiday treat stocking stuffers. I have two versions, one with a fleece hat and one without. I will cover the fleece hat version in another tutorial. I used card stock for these stocking stuffers but you could use felt, wrapping paper, napkins, anything your heart desires.
Here is how I put together my gift card holder card stock sleeve. I only used a few supplies.

Supplies

Patterned and solid card stock

Circle Hole Punch - Only if you are adding a gift card pocket.

Glue - This is my new favorite glue! You will see in it probably in every project of mine from now on.

Scotch tape

Paper Trimmer

Bone Folder (optional but helps)

Scoring Board (Optional) A scoring board would be great to use and I am going to get one, but at the moment, I don't have one. So, it is possible to make these sleeves without one but it sure would be quicker and easier with one.

First, I selected 3 coordinating papers. The largest doesn't have to cover the whole box so this is a great scrap buster project.
Start with the box standing, lined up with the edge of your card stock. Make a mark to score this length later.
Lay the box down and make the next mark. (I used a white pen so that you could see the marks easier. ) Bring the box up and make another mark. Continue until you have gone all the way around.
Here are my marks for where to score. See the extra at the end. Tip: I like to make this wrap a little bigger than I think I need, that is why the card stock doesn't end with the last mark. It is easier, if you find you measured incorrectly to have too much, rather than too little. Ask me how I know this. My projects are like pancakes, the first one is often a throw-away... thank goodness, I am not easily discouraged.
Here is what it looked like after I scored my lines. Then I just hand pressed each of the lines and it naturally forms a box to cover your candy box. Top and bottoms are not covered. I was going for quick and easy with this stocking stuffer.
If you are going to write on your card stock. I find it easiest to do now but make sure it is high enough if you are putting a gift card below it.
I attach the first layer with tape. (I had to use packing tape because ever since scotch tape started to be used for applying eyeliner, mine is always missing. Teenage daughters... I swear the scotch tape company posted that tutorial. Their sales have probably doubled. LOL.)
Select your 2 additional pieces of card stock. Determine how much of each you want to use. This is personal preference. The middle one will need reach the bottom of the one that is in front, if you are making a pocket for your gift card.
Next, I line the two additional pieces with large piece that has been scored and I transfer the marks to these pieces.
The one that will be in the front gets a half circle punched out of it.
I put them on the box but don't tape them just yet. You want to glue the bottom edge so the gift card doesn't fall out.
Just a small line along the bottom will do.
And there you have it. Tuck in your card, you can add a pom pom if you like. Happy Holidays...
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
