Most of the shadow box image search I see for Mother’s Day are with roses in square frames. I wanted to use a different type of flower for my thrifted oval frame.

I decided to use these 5-petal paper flowers from my stash. They are plain white and flat, so I curled up each petal using a pencil and then marked the center with a brown sharpie.

These were the materials I used: cardstock (copper foil and white gold shimmer), my thrifted no-glass frame, die-cut paper flowers, tacky glue, and hot glue.

Cricut's Offset Feature

I measured the frame and with my Cricut Maker, I cut the oval backer, the word ‘mom’ and it’s offset layer.

Glue ‘mom’ onto its shadow layer and then attach to the frame with hot glue.

For me to know where to stick the flowers, I used a letter opener to outline the view area of my frame. I should have done this before attaching 'mom'.

Tacky glue was used so there will be time to reposition the flowers, if needed.

Once I’m happy with the way the flowers were laid down onto the backer, I hot glued it to the back of the frame, making sure the flowers were within the view area.

This is how it turned out and I love the simplicity of it all. It looks fine as it is even without the glass frame.
