Why doesn't anyone use dried fruit instead of mica powder?
Hi, I am trying to make homemade body butters, foaming scrubs and whipped soap. I was thinking about using freeze dried fruit such as strawberry powder for the color in my body butters and scrubs. As long as I add a natural preservative in the recipie will the products be safe to use? Or is there a reason people don't use dried fruit in their products?

Hi Sharaye, the mica colors are likely much more intense in color than the dried fruit are and so the butters, etc. will look prettier using the mica. In addition, the mica is very pulverized and likely will make a smoother texture than the dried fruit. You might be able to market your products and stress that they are made with dried fruits though. Good luck with your venture! .
I have a friend who makes bar soap and she uses dried fruit in those. That would lend me to think it would work.
I've made my own body butter and used crushed dried up flowers for dye before so I don't see why fruit wouldn't work!
Hi Sharaye, I don't see why dried fruit won't work. It would act as a natural scrub. Why not make a test batch and see how long it lasts.
I say make one of each, have some friends try out both, and then decide.
here is some info for you

Probably because you would need a preservative ,try frozen fruit the color is strong
Try a couple and use them see how they are let one sit a month see how it is .
It could be that the fruit would cause spoilage. You might reach out to someone who carries that product and ask them.
Hi Sharaye, it can be done, hope this link helps you out
