DIY Christmas Map Heart Ornaments.

30 Minutes
Easy
Everyone likes a personalised gift or ornament at Christmas. A really easy way to personalise something is to stick a relevant map on it. Plus I think maps make things cool and interesting.
I used to some wooden heart shapes and maps to make some lovely Christmas ornaments and gifts for my family.
I bought the wooden heart shapes online they are cheap to buy. click here to see ones like mine
For the maps, I used old road maps and map wrapping paper. I used maps of places where people where born, where they met or where we have spent past Christmas's as a family.
Once you have chosen your map, cut it out with a scalpel or scissors.
Paste decoupage glue onto your wooden heart and map cut out. Stick the map to the wooden shape. Then paste a layer of the glue or varnish to protect and seal it.
For my ornaments I had maps on both sides of my heart shape and threaded through some red ribbon.

You could leave one side blank and use it as a gift tag by writing on the back.
With smaller maps I stuck on self adhesive pins and made brooches and even turned one of the map shapes into a key ring.
What maps would you use for your heart shaped ornaments ?
