We love decorating our Christmas tree with a new look or theme each year. We've decorated it with a certain color theme, we did all seashells after our big trip to the beach, in a Brazil theme when our family from Brazil came to visit, you get the idea.

This year we wanted to come up with something new that was simple, but was more personal to our family. After a few ideas we settled on photos of our family!

You will need:

photos

3" wood craft circles

hot glue gun and glue

some twine or ribbon for hanging your ornaments

I used 30 photos for my 7' sort of skinny tree. I could have used about 5 - 10 more photos to really fill up my tree, but that's entirely up to you. I also added some wood signs, beaded garland and some crystal ornaments to accent the tree.

I printed off all of my pictures in black and white to keep it more clean and simple looking.

Take one of your wooden circles and trace around the part of the photo you would like to use. Do this to all of your photos and then cut each one of them out.

Then with your glue gun, add some glue around the edge of your wooden circle and quickly attach your photo to it.

To add a hanger to the back of my ornaments, I cut a 3" or so piece of twine, tied a knot in the end and then glued the knot area to the back of the ornament. Make sure when you glue on your twine, that your glue it on in the correct spot so that your picture will hang the correct way.

Isn't my our newly adopted little African Grey Sidney adorable?! He will look so cute hanging on the tree!

Then all of your ornaments are ready to be hung up. We used picture of the kids when they were little, family photos from some of our favorite trips, a picture of each of our pets and pictures of me and the hubby.

The kids helped me decorate the tree and they loved looking at old photos of everyone and remembering some of our favorite family trips and photos. My 12 year old even said "Mom, this is definitely my favorite tree so far." icon
