Dollar Store Ornament Makeover

I love to make a bunch of ornaments at Christmas both for gifts and to keep. As Farmhouse style is so popular, I thought I would make some wood slice ornaments. Thanks to my Dad for slicing up some small wood pieces for me. But you can buy them at any craft store.
I found this sparkly deer head at the Dollar Store and while pretty, it didn't go with the rustic farmhouse look I was going for. Here is what it looked like when I bought it:
So I decided to paint it to look like galvanized metal. Here is what I used for supplies:
Wood Slice – Free!!
Hot Glue
Deer Ornament – Dollar Tree
Buffalo Check Ribbon – Michael's
First I removed the adornments and gave the entire piece two coats of black paint.T hen I added one coat of silver metallic paint. I wanted some of the black to show underneath. Then I hot glued him to the wood Slice and added ribbon. My friend loves buffalo check so that is what I used and it definitely goes with the farmhouse theme.
I just love how it turned out and I hope my friend does too!
Here is a before and after:
