These cute little Dala Horses are super easy to make already using inexpensive no mess clay but add in a free printable pattern and you can churn them out in no time for Christmas!
First you roll out Activa Hearty Clay to the desired thickness. The Activa rolling kit contains guides so you can roll them all consistently to the same thickness.
Printout the free printable pattern (you can get it on my website using the link at the bottom of this post) and trace it on to cardboard. Cut it out and your pattern is ready for use.
Cut out your Dalas using the sharp end of a skewer stick. Add a hole to the top using the flat end of the skewer and you wish to add a hanging loop. Allow them to dry for 24 hours.
Paint your Dalas in the desired colors using acrylic craft paint.
Once dry add a loop of ribbon or twine in the pre-made hole if you will be hanging your Dalas. They make AWESOME gift tag ornaments. You can also use them as craft embellishments for a gazillion and one craft projects. I have at least two more projects planned myself using these little guys. The cutest, are these lighter than typical clay that you would fire? What would be a good thickness for these to be less delicate? Have you used this clay for other projects? And do you paint both sides?
