Turn plain plastic ornaments from the the dollar store into fancy ornate decorations that your friends wont even believe you made!
First you will need some inexpensive ornaments, plastic is best as they will be going through a process and it would be so sad to break one after all creating such a beautiful transformation!
First step to cover your ornaments with DIY (clay based) Paint! The clay in the paint will adhere easily to plastic and slick surfaces and you can also create beautiful texture for a vintage look. This paint has just nine ingredients with out any harsh chemicals, and the colors are so beautiful!
Step Two, create fancy details with Iron Orchid Decor moulds. These awesome moulds come in dozens of designs and can be used with various types of clay, or even resin.
I used paper clay for this because it's easy to work with, durable and best of all you can remove the clay easily before it dries and place it around the round surface of the ornament.
After you glue the moulds in place you will want to paint over them and add a dark wax to highlife all the wonderful details.
For a totally different look add white wax over a dark color
You can see the whole process here in my quick video tutorial

Well I've been wondering where I could find this type of mould! Believe it or not, I need them to make the intricate moulding over an arch in my dining/living room! Some of the molding is falling apart from age and its hand carved so not something I can do. Thanks for this! I never thought of Amazon!

These are beautiful but for a Dollar Store project this has to be expensive to do. The paint alone would cost quite a bit with that many colors, plus the wax. Can you tell us the cost of each item you used to make these as I would love to do some but I live on a very limited budget.
