After deciding to put up a second smaller tree in our living room this year, I wanted to whip together a few easy ornaments and a tree topper using supplies I had around the house instead of spending any extra money. Traditional meets rustic is our theme which inspired these burlap bows and easy twig star!
For the bows, we cut and hot glued 3"x8" strips of burlap into loops and attached them together.
6 loops per bow were used- 5 to make the bow shape, and 1 to create the loop in the center (also helps hide any loose ends!)
We added a small piece of twine to the back so it can be easily hung on the tree, and repeated until our tree was full!
To create the rustic star, we used 15 6" twigs and tied them together using red bakers twine.
All that was left was the base to keep the star nice and sturdy on the top of the tree. We used a small cardboard roll leftover from some holiday ribbon that we wrapped in twine and hot glued to the bottom of the star.
After everything was dry, they got added to the tree along with some ribbon, lights, bulbs and a few faux berry branches.
Very simple and perfect for our budget-friendly rustic tree! For more details, be sure to pop by our blog, Sypsie Designs!
