How To Make Dried Orange Christmas Ornaments

I fell in love with this wreath I saw at a Christmas shop. It was filled with dried oranges and it smelled great. So I was inspired to make my own. I sliced too many oranges and decided to make ornaments for my tree instead.
Supplies you need to make dried orange ornaments.
  1. A bag of oranges: It doesn't have to be navels, I bought a bunch in a bag.
  2. Jute rope
  3. Parchment paper
  4. Cookie Sheet
  5. Sharp cutting knife
Step 1:I used a whole bag of oranges for the Christmas tree. I sliced up the oranges about 1/8 thick. Try to make them as slim as you can. They will dry up better than the thicker ones. Place the oranges on parchment lined cookie sheets.
Step 2: I don't have Dehydrator. You don't need one as long as you bake them in your oven on low temps at 200 degree for 4 to 5 hours. A good idea is set the timer. The best time to do this is when you are home for those hours. This is easy for me since I am always home making projects.
Step 3You can peek after 4 hours to see if they are done. Mine took only 4 hours. Once they are hanging on the tree they will get more stiff.
Step 4:Cut a small hole in the top of the slice orange and thread a piece of jute rope for hanging on the tree. I measured about 5 inches for jute rope.
Now you beautiful sweet smelling dried oranges are ready to be hung on your tree. You can also use them on wreaths or placed in potpourri.
