Flamingo Birthday Party

Do you know a little girl who loves all things pink? I think most of us do. My second daughter is a huge fan of pink, so it was no surprise when she requested a flamingo theme for her four-year-old birthday party.
I wanted to stick to a theme without being overly cartoon-y. I kept it simple with pink tassels and a hand cut "Happy Birthday" sign on the wall and brought in extra large balloons for added fun. I wanted to use a lot of flowers since my daughter loves them but didn't want to spend a fortune on them, so I foraged for all but the carnations on her cake.
I have always opted for serving snacks at children's birthday parties as opposed to full meals. This keeps things easygoing while still offering food to the party goers. Vegetables and fruit can be prepared the day prior and set out at go time. Crackers, cheese, popcorn, and other miscellaneous snacks are easy to pour into bowels a half-hour before beginning the party. We served pink goldfish, homemade pink dipped pretzels, and strawberry wafers to keep with the theme.
To keep the children entertained we hid miniature flamingos around our backyard for them to seek and find. They had so much fun doing that, we didn't even have time for Pin the Party Hat on the Flamingo.

Fresh flowers and a flamingo cake topper help keep things fun, whimsical, and simple.
Homemade strawberry popcorn and miniature marshmallows were the biggest hit. The dragon fruit looked beautiful but failed to impress the guests.
